So what is a Chomp Herder?

Chomp Herders are a neutral species of earth pony carved from stone by expert stone smiths. The herders are technically genderless, being made of stone and all. They often refer to themselves as male or female depending on the level of masculinity or femininity. It really is personal preference. At carving they have a metal plate attached to them that will attach their chomp to them for the rest of their days. The plate can be any size or shape, but typically these are simple shapes such as rectangles or squares. Their large sturdy feet are tipped with metal that matches the plate. They have bi colored hair, usually of a bright and fluffy nature. Its a sharp contrast to the chiseled edges and desaturated colors of their stone bodies. The herder's bodies can come in any color, but it will always be strongly desaturated. No neon ponies here! Their tails are always traditional unicorn tails/lion tails. Their eyes are bi-colored with each eye matching a color from their hair.

being made from stone is the only way they can handle transferring the Chomps to their new locations. It is widely known that Chomps do better in herds, so when relocating a chomp, the presence of another helps make travel a little less stressful on the poor chomps.  The chomps can very in color, size and personality, but in the end they are still chomps. Chomps do not speak.

Cracks and chips are fairly common. Its possible for them to even loose a tail or an ear. Legs are repaired immediately if lost, so seeing a tripod isn't gonna happen. The metal plate can be anywhere on the body except the head. Its held on with rivets. These guys are neutral. They take no sides. If someone asked to have chomps placed in their castle, the herders would happily do it. Chomps look like fluffy puppies to these guys and if you go about abusing their chomps, they will probably give you an ear full on how chomps are people too.

These guys very in shape and size, but they are never babies. They are carved as adults and will remain that way till the day they can no longer be repaired.
