There's no denying that Avena is a beauty, and many colts have tried to woo her in vain. What almost everybody doesn't know is that Avena can't speak; for some medical reason, when she was still a small filly, her voice had gradually deteriorated into nothing. With the loss of her voice, with no way of expressing her thoughts and opinions, Avena became greatly depressed. Fortunately a good friend of her began directing her attention to music, and she began learning the harp, forgetting her gloom. She became very adept at playing the instrument. Ponies say all of the song she plays are melancholic, and the emotions she pours into those notes are almost tangible in their gentle sorrow and pain.
